"Why do you only eat the green ones?" Chase asked Melody as he stuffed a hoof-full of M&M's in his mouth. They were sitting at the kitchen table at Chase's house, doing their algebra homework.

"I think the green ones taste the best," Melody continued to only pick out the green M&M's to eat.

"They all taste the same," he laughed, as he tried to figure out the next algebra problem. His mom quietly laughed as she finished cleaning up the kitchen.

"No they don't. Did you get the answer to #16?"

"Yes they do. The answer is 32." Chase didn't even look up as he answered her question. "You're crazy, they all taste the same."

The two of them continued to work on their homework. They heard the phone ring.

"Chase, telephone," his mom called from the living room.

Chase got up and left the table. "Hello," he answered.

"Hi Chase,"

"Skylar, oh my gosh. I..." Chase turned around and faced the wall. "never thought I would hear from you again."

"Well, I missed you," there was a dead silence between the two of them. Skylar is Chase's ex, and his first love.

It had been ten minutes. Melody knew that Chase didn't like to talk on the phone for very long, especially if he had company over. She turned around to see him laughing and smiling. She quietly watched him, figuring he was talking to Teddy or Buddy, since they were such good friends. Then he hung up the phone and joined Melody back at the table.

"Hey, who was on the phone?" Melody curiously asked.

"Ahhh, nobody," Chase continued onto the next algebra problem.

"It didn't look like nobody,"

"Can we just drop this, please,"

"Okay, okay," Melody averted her eyes back down to her math book.

The next day at school, Chase rushed into the gym locker room. He had to find Buddy. He frantically looked around, up and down all the aisles of lockers. He caught Buddy right before he went into the gym room to stretch out.

"Chase, dude, what's up?" Buddy had no idea what was going on.

Chase didn't say anything. Buddy followed him to the far corner of the locker room. He didn't want any nosy ponies listening in.

"Skylar called me last night,"

"So, isn't that great news. I mean you've been praying for this day ever since she broke your heart into a million pieces.

"I know, but I really like Mel," Chase looked around making sure no one was around.

"Well, how do you feel about Skylar? I know she was your first love and all."

"That's just it, I don't know how I feel. I mean a part of me is so happy she called. I never thought I'd ever get to talk to her again. But I definitely don't want to screw up what I have with Mel."

"I got it, pretend Skylar never called," Buddy suggested. He knew Chase would never go for that idea.

"I can't exactly do that,"

"Why do you have to shoot down all my great ideas. It's been like this ever since we were young," Buddy smiled and left Chase as he made his way into the gym room.

Chase stood frozen for a minute. Who could he go to for advice? Buddy is his best friend and was no help. He didn't want to many ponies to know about this, cause he didn't want Melody to find out and get jealous. Maybe one of the girls, the one who is the best at keeping secrets. . . .Sweetheart.

Sweetheart sat at the same lunch table with Chase. He managed to catch up with her right before any of their other friends arrived at the table.

"Sweetheart, I have a problem and I need some advice. Buddy was no help to me. My ex called me yesterday."

"Oh, my gosh. Did you tell Melody?"

"No, the thing is Skylar was my first love and I always dreamed we'd get back together, but I met Melody and I now I'm so confused as to what I'm feeling."

"This is a tough one. You know what I think. This may sound stupid, but here goes. I think you should go on a date with her."

"Are you crazy, Mel would kill me."

"For real, you need to know if there is still something between you two. Maybe you're still holding onto something that just isn't there anymore. The only way you'll find out is to see her and then you'll find out who you care more about."

"How on earth I'm I going to explain this to Melody?" Chase sunk back in his chair.

"Explain what to me?" asked Melody as she approached the lunch table. She kissed Chase on the cheek and sat down in the chair next to him.

He looked at Sweetheart, "I'll leave you two alone."

"Sweetheart,"

"What do you need to tell me?"
