"Hey Clover, that guy over there is checking you out,” Patch noticed a boy sitting at table cross the ice cream shoppe.

“Whatever,” objected Clover

“Why don’t you go over there and talk to him?” Patch suggested. Clover had such horrible experiences with guys, and had not been out on a date in such a long time. Patch sensed there was something special about this boy.

They both looked over at the turquoise boy with yellow hair. He looked at them and gave a heart melting smile.

“No.”

“Why.”

“You know, I have been in how many relationships and they all turn out the same. All guys are jerks.”

“That is just not true.”

“Well it is in my cause,” Clover couldn't help but think she was a lost cause when it came to love and boys.

“You have nothing to lose by saying “Hi” and going out to dinner, “ Patch was trying to get some happiness in her friend’s life.

“It’s Friday night, go have some fun,” said Patch and then she started chanting “Clover, Clover, Clover.”

“Okay, okay, just shut up,” Clover got up, smiled and walked over to the cute guy. He saw her coming and put his head down and blushed.

“Hi,” Clover stand next to his table and smiled.

“Hi, I am Dandy,” the boy introduced himself to Clover.

“I’m Clover.”

“Clover, you are hotter then I remember.”

“Excuse me.”

“Don’t you remember me?”

Clover shock her head “NO”

“Won’t you sit and join me,” Dandy insisted

“The roller dance contest. We were partners,” Dandy tried jogging her memory, as Clover sat down across the table from him. The Roller dance contest was like 6 years ago.

“Oh yeah,” It was all coming back to Clover, now.

“What happened to you?” Clover asked innocently.

“We moved a couple weeks later and I never could get in touch with you to tell you. Your number was changed or something. Anyhow, I had a major crush on you and as soon as I turned 16, I that I'd drive back her and see if I could find you,” he explained taking her hoof and kissing it.

Clover blushed and looked over at Patch. Patch winked back at her.

“So, I am probably too late, but I’ll ask any ways. Do you want to go out to dinner with me tonight?”

Clover bit her lip and looked once again at Patch. She knew just by looking at Patch’s eyes to go ahead and say….

“Yes”

“Great, I’ll pick you up at 6:00.”

“I’ll be ready,” Clover assured him.

Clover back over and sat next to Patch.

“Way to go Clover.”

“That was Dandy, my partner from the roller dance contest 6 years ago. He has a crush on me,” Clover began telling Patch everything.

“Wow, how romantic,” said Patch.

“You are starting to sound a lot like Sweetheart,” said Clover with a smile. She couldn't help but smile for she had a good feeling about Dandy.

“Are you guys talking about me,” Sweetheart asked as she heard her name in their conversation. Sweetheart and Melody walked over and sat down next to Patch and Clover.

“Clover has a date,” Patch filled them in on the recent happenings of the day.

“Clover, date,” said Melody, “those two words don’t go together. Hey who is that hottie over there, looks like I’m going to have a date tonight, too.”

“Guess again Melody.” said Patch, “That is Clover’s date.”

"Wow, I am impressed,” Melody shook her head.

“I am kind a nervous,” Clover told her friends.

“Don’t be, guys are just as nervous as we are,” Sweetheart thought to herself how long it took Teddy to finally ask her out. She had been waiting for that day for a very long time.

“Can you go with me?” asked Clover.

“What?”

“You know, a double date.”

“Clover, he wants to get to know you,” said patch.

“All right, I’m going home to get ready.” Clover got up and left.

“I think I better keep an eye on her so she doesn’t back out,” Patch didn't want Clover to chicken-out and blow it with this great guy.

Melody and Sweetheart looked at each other and then at Patch.

“They are going to the Dream Valley restaurant and then dancing,” Patch informed her friends. “Okay, I will go to her house and make sure she makes it out the door.”

“Patch, she is 16. I do not think she needs your help,” remarked Melody.

“She needs me for moral support,” explained Patch as she got up started on her way over to Clover’s house.

Patch walked right up to Clover’s house and right into the front door and up to Clover’s room.

“Patch, what are you doing here?” Clover asked.

“I am helping you get ready.”

“I do not need any help.”

Clover went about her business and kept getting ready for her date. The more she thought about the more excited she was to be going out on a date again. She put a yellow bow in her hair and a couple bracelets and a necklace on.

“Clover, you look so pretty,” Patch commented her.

“Why thank you,” replied Clover with a smile.

“You know Clover that smile has not left your face since you got this date,” observed Patch.

Ding, Dong, went the doorbell.

“Oh, he is here.”

Patch raced down the stairs and opened the door and there stood Dandy with a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers.

Clover came down stairs, “Hi Dandy, thank you they are beautiful.” Dandy handed her the flowers.

“Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl,” said Dandy flashing that smiled again.

Patch started taking pictures of the two of them.

“Patch, you are embarrassing me,” Clover covered her face after the fifth picture, “put these into some water and get out of my house.”

“Sure,” as she snapped the last picture of them.

“Are you ready?” asked Dandy politely.

“Yes”

The two ponies had a fabulous night. Dandy took Clover to the Dream Valley restaurant and then he took her to a dance club. He remembered how she loves to dance. So they danced the night away. He got her home by her 1:00 curfew. Dandy kissed her on the cheek. (He could tell she did not want to rush into anything, so he did not push.) and said “good night.”

Clover smiled, “good night,” she went into the house shut the door and leaned against it. That smile of happiness was still on her face.

“I guess all guys aren’t jerks.”
